There is a high demand for medical assistants which will provide you with job security, an opportunity to learn a variety of duties and the ability to obtain certification in less than one year so that you can begin your career journey. However, there are some cons to take into consideration such as the odd hours, the work is demanding therefore you have to be flexible and be prepared to wear many hats such as performing administrative and clinical duties. I recommend seeking out the possibility of an internship or shadowing a clinic in your area. For a little more time in school, you could become a CNA. The career growth opportunities and the pay would be better than a CMA. Many community colleges have these programs, so I think it would be worth considering! Good luck to you!
