what is it like to be a labor and delivery nurse?

I'm very interested in becoming an L&D nurse in the future, however, I do not know what to expect.

I found a website that lists the hour by hour duties of being a labor and delivery nurse.  After reading this, I would then research  the educational requirements -- such as the science requirements -- to ensure they match your interests and aptitude.    Look online for colleges and universities that offer nursing degrees in your area.  Download the class descriptions, and visit their bookstores or the library to examine the textbooks.  Does this look interesting to you?  does it sound like you would enjoy it?   Do you like babies?  Are you afraid of the hospital (that would be a good indication this field may not be right)?
