Dan’s Answer

Hello Jacob,

I would have to say one of the biggest issues we come across in construction is Schedule. Started my construction career in the northeast (Boston) and once winter rolls in it makes things really tough keeping to a schedule. Snow and Ice and frigid temps make it either really hard to get work done or just impossible to get it done.

What i feel is the second biggest problem is budget. Sort of connected to schedule in some ways. If your schedule is effected and your timeline is affected all of a sudden your labor costs have increased and you are now in a budget challenge. Always keeping an eye on your budget through out the entire project is one of the keys to success in my humble opinion

I hope this helps

Thanks

Dan

many things can be a challenge in a construction project:

contractor issues:
- making sure the contractor is fulfilling the obligations of the contract and contract documents
+continually checking the contractor progress to ensure they are on schedule and will meet the end date
+checking that materials have been ordered and lead times will allow the material to be at the project site in time for installation
+making sure contractors are not paid ahead of the actual work they have in place
+checking the quality of the work and making sure that the right materials are being used...no substitutions
+making sure the contractor has the right permits and are getting inspections that are passing
