<span style="color: rgb(32, 33, 36);">It can take at least 8 years to become a CNM: 4 years for a bachelor's degree, 1 year of nursing experience, and 3 years  in a nurse midwifery program. Some CNMs may take less or more time to gain certification and licensure.</span>

The length of time would depend on the type of program you select. You must first acquire a four year nursing degree and pass the nursing boards to become an RN. A couple years of practicing is very helpful and would make you a better nurse and prepare you for the advanced training. The CNM program is generally at the Master's Degree level with the time required depending on the school attended.
