A midwife helps mom and baby. They help with every step. From the time a woman becomes pregnant till after baby is born, they help with check ups and help with birthing and aftercare for both mom and baby. Although I do not know the pay rate now days I will find out and get back to you on that!!!

Richard’s Answer

As the previous poster said, the midwife takes care of the mom and baby the whole way through. They perform prenatal checkups and deliver the baby. The can make about $93,000-$140,000 depending on the location

Rachel’s Answer

Nurse midwives have special training in helping pregnant women to carry and deliver a baby. While they can be very helpful and supportive in a healthy pregnancy, they do not have the skills to emergently perform a surgery to get the baby out if the mom or baby starts to become distressed.
