Julianne’s Answer

Hello Alonzo,

There are many benefits to becoming an electrician. Starting off there is no degree required, just a high school diploma or GED! All you will have to do to start is to get an apprenticeship to learn about the trade. Another option is attending a vocational school that offers electrical work, where you will get educated about different electrical codes and many other things. Once you complete school, your school can connect you with local electricians near you to start an apprenticeship. The starting salary is great and only increases with the more experience and skills you obtain.

One thing to think about is that it can take several years to complete your internship, therefore it takes a lot of work to reach a higher level and greater salary. Often the work can be dangerous, and that is a risk that people who are in manual labor, like electrical work take.

Good Luck, I hope this helps!
