Miki’s Answer

There are many different areas of the Nursing Profession. It's wise to speak to as many nurses in different areas. If you are more interested in the clinical aspects and don't especially care for the Administratve area just focus on getting experience in all the clinical areas.
There are advanced practice degrees as well as degrees in teaching and Administration.

Lisa’s Answer

Hi Natalie L.

The great thing about nursing is if you get tired of doing one job you can switch to another! Pretty much any thing you can think of there is a nurse for: Pediatrics, Geriatrics (working with the elderly), ER, Trauma, ICU, Surgical, Wound, Dialysis (filters the blood from your kidneys), Oncology (Cancer nurse), Cardiac, Pulmonary, Orthopedics (deals with broken bones and Muscle injuries), Neurolgoy the list is endless.

You can also check out www.registerednursing.org for more infomation about specialties and careers in nursing!

Hope this was helpful!
