Mechanics do not need college experience. But, with none, I don't believe you would get very far job-wise and pay-wise.

In some cases, it would increase your pay, with better jobs because of your extra experience, promotions to better jobs, or a job that increase pay while your still doing the same work.

I recommend going to college. Otherwise, you wouldn't get very far, unless you get lucky with a good job opportunity.
