What do college directors look at?
I'm a junior in high school right now and today during school we did registration for the ACT and they handed out our GPA's....... my GPA so far is a 2.157..... but! I wanna know what colleges look at because freshman and sophomore year I went to different schools and I might be moving again so I would have been to 3 different schools throughout high school. Also I want to go to ASU so I want to know what take under consideration #college #school #college-bound

Hi Brendan,
Thanks for posting. You ask a great question, but unfortunately there is no single answer. Every college sets their own admissions standards so it will vary based on where you want to apply. If by ASU you mean Arizona State University then you can locate their requirements here:
https://students.asu.edu/freshman/requirements (then click "Admission Requirements").
They list certain courses you'll need to take and some other criteria. What's really cool is that even if your GPA is below their minimum of 3.0, you will have a chance at being admitted IF you do well on the ACT or SAT.
You may also wish to check out their Global Freshman Academy by visiting this link: http://gfa.asu.edu/
Anyone can take courses through their Global Freshman Academy - http://gfa.asu.edu - and pay reduced tuition. You may want to consider taking one or two courses through the academy during your summer break. If you do well it will look good on your application if you decide to apply.
This is just a small step and there many different roads you can take, but I hope this helps. Please continue to post on this board with any other questions.

Hi Brendan,
Most colleges want a 3.0 GPA. They best way when you have a 2.1 -2.3 is community college. When attending community college you can transfer to whatever college you want as long as you have a 2.0 or higher. Also with community college you get adjusted to the college life!

Hi Brendan!
A good place to start you education might be your local community college. Many community colleges have special programs to assist people like you to boost their grade scores, while completing the first two years of college, thus making them more attractive to a school such as ASU. Also, the tuition at community colleges is more reasonable and all of the credits transfer to most 4 year schools.
Best of luck. Please keep me posted!! I would like to follow your progress!!
