Babita’s Answer

Nurses are care-givers.  Remember Florence Nightingale? She was caring, gentle and emotionally strong. It takes courage to see so many injured people and not buckle down or run away from the sight of ghastly injuries. As a nurse, you will come across all types of ailments, injuries, anxieties, fears - you must deal with each one of them with empathy, positivity and with a smile.  Sick people can be irritable, they can sometimes lash out - you must be both physically and emotionally strong to handle your patients with care and kindness.  You must genuinely feel compassion, yet be strong enough to distance yourself from drowning in sorrow because of the pain you may be surrounded with. It is a tightrope you walk as a nurse, but the gratitude and blessings you receive from the people you help cure and their families makes it all worthwhile. Being a nurse is not just a job, it is a service to humanity.
