There are many ways to be amazing! College is not for everyone. There are trades that you can excel at and even start your own business.  Look around you and you'll see all kinds of people that have gone to a vocational school and are very successful. Also, the military/airforce/navy are something to consider also. There are so many career paths in that area and if you decide you want a college education, it will be paid for.   If you want to do something meaningful in a non-military environment,  check out Americorps. (links below).  I commend you on wanting to be amazing...you can do anything.

Kimberly recommends the following next steps:

Kayla’s Answer

No, college isn't for everyone. That being said, I don't think receiving an education has ever put anyone in a worse place than where they started.

Try to think about where you see yourself in 5-10 years and what your daily routine would be. If the job or lifestyle you picture requires an education then you should push through and do that even if you don't love school.

However, you can live and happy and successful life without going to school as well. There are many paths that don't require an education. As long as you are smart, hard working, and able to find passion in something, you can be successful.

People can have many different interests and they can convert that into a trade or a gob if they study that subject on their own, have passion for it and willing to develop themselves it that field.

Angela’s Answer

While college is encouraged, it does not dictate a person’s living. In college, you meet many like minded individuals that can help develop a passion. However, there are many passions that do not require college. There are many trades that require much less schooling that can be equally satisfying. But all in all, if you find something you are passionate about and you have the drive, you will do amazing things.

Carolyn’s Answer

Christina,

The simple answer is no, you do not need to have a college degree to be amazing and successful. However, college is more than just school, l it is an experience and a way to grow as a human being. You learn life skills in college along with all the math, reading, and writing. You learn to be independent and to take care of yourself. Through the classes you take, you become more knowledgeable about the world and you are pushed to question your own understanding of the world. College is a growing experience and a degree in anything will take you farther than you think. I have a bachelor's degree in psychology and it has opened many doors for me. I am currently pursuing an Emergency Management career with FEMA that I would not have learned about if I didn't go to college. I could also become an FBI special agent if I wanted to which I think is pretty cool. So, the short answer is no, you don't need a degree to become amazing and successful but it does make it a lot easier.

Eric’s Answer

While college may not be a requirement of "being amazing", it did establish a foundation for my career and opened opportunities that were not previously available. While college may not be for everyone, if it's a financial issue, there are cheaper less expensive community colleges out there, that you can often times transfer credits from to your more preferred school of choice.
