Nija’s Answer
Hi Yahir,
I am glad that you asked this question because I feel that this is an important question. It is important to not only have a professional life but you must have a personal life as well in order to enjoy life. As a way to take care of yourself (selfcare), you must allow yourself to have fun and explore your interests/hobbies.
Aside from my work, being a mother and wife, I spend my free time with my family and friends. I enjoy going to the movies, the escape room, shopping, bowling, out to eat, amusement parks, playing games and love engaging in arts and crafts. I love going to the beach and sight seeing new things and places. I spend time watching television, reading, relaxing, and taking bubble baths. Sometimes I like to spend time alone for a few minutes because it gives me the ability to pray, meditate; self reflect and breathe.

In my free time, you can find me at a concert (taking photos). Photography is my most loved hobby outside of work.

I love to read! I didn't read for fun as much in high school and college because I always had to read for class, but now that I work full time I love to read! I'd suggest making time for yourself to read and enjoy new subjects. You never know what loves you could discover outside of your normal course of study!

Yahir,
What a unique and interesting question. I think it's great you are asking this because sometimes a hobby can also become a career. I'm an example of this. One of my hobbies is volunteering. I play keyboard/piano and volunteer with the band at my church. I also like to volunteer for other non-profit organizations in my community. In my job as a Community Engagement Lead, I help employees find ways to volunteer in their communities, whether it's by mentoring students or helping serve meals to homeless individuals, or helping our environment to teaching others about online safety. The possibilities are endless and also a fun way to spend time with others while helping to manage stress.
