Someone once told me a ship is only able to steer if it is in motion, and this advice has stuck with me my whole career. Sometimes the best way to find out what you want to do, or what you are good at is to just jump into something and figure it out from there.
I worked inside sales, processing orders at a distribution company, and my manager said she looked to hire people who were great at video games because they were able to stay focused at the computer for a long time, and had the ability to enter lots of lines very quickly. These inside sales roles are needed in about every field, they are in high demand, and would be a great place to start. Good luck!

It depends on how you are interested in video games; playing video games, video game design, video game review, video game content creation, the list grows on.
Currently we are in a period of unprecedented growth in the online community, and the avenues have opened up in non-traditional senses. If video game playing, and/or comedy is your interest the online streaming community/content creation (Twitch, Youtube) have huge avenues for individuals or groups to create careers with a relatively low entry barrier. No training or certification is required. This can be a potential avenue.
If it is in video game creation/design, it can depend on the aspect. Schools of training in 3D Modelling, Animation, programming, sound design will all help depending on the aspect you are interested in. Even online free content will exist to remove some of the additional entry barriers at a beginner level.
Overall, you are able to head in any direction you can think of for this industry and the best way to do so is to start looking.

The video game industry has a lot of starting places. There are options to do game testing to get your foot in the door. If you are not a developer, they have roles w/ project management, system and office administration. There are also options to build a game if you have all the skills. If you like designing games, you could always try to find a team outside of a career per say and see if it suites you. You can also have options within the support industry. This is a great starting point for anyone who is looking to get into any industry and gives you flexibility to make a pivot and change how you approach your career.

Check out venture capital firms that specialize in gaming startups. The VCs always have a portfolio of companies that they invest. These companies are likely to be hiring.
