How do i find out what I might do in the future?

I like math and I like fashion but also decorating stuff; so I thought maybe I'd like to do interior decorator. I was also thinking about being a natalist but I'm not sure I'll be able to deal with the loss of newborn babies.

Randy’s Answer

I would suggest you look at what you enjoy doing. Look at what you are good at and what you do that makes time fly by. Try to think of something that can translate into a job function to you can earn an income while doing it. There is an old saying that is, "If you love what you do, you never work a day in your life."

Good luck!

Mojdeh’s Answer

it is best to think about yourself your personality and activities you enjoy the most. Something like individual activities, or you are kind of bubbly person, enjoy to talk to people, then find a job related to that. if you like socializing, you would better to pick a job dealing with people and customers. if you prefer to fix the problems and enjoy learning things about technology, probably you should choose one of engineering field and finally if you enjoy learning things about human bodies, it could be a choice to become a physician. Just find your interest and relate it to a career.

Hi Amanda!

I share similar interest to yours, and I’m happy to say that i love my job, i´ve been working as network consulting engineer at Cisco, and my job allowed me to do both, share my math knowledge by helping my customers and also develop my creativity through participate and being involved in events, I have the opportunity to design stuff like dashboards for my customers and this possibility to guide them and providing new ways to share the information is awesome! I really enjoy both parts, I think you should follow your instincts and don’t put too much stress on it, you have clear what you like and that’s always a good start!

Hi there, you are on the right track. The first thing to think of is what it is that you like and enjoy doing. What are you interested in? What appeals to you? Science, technology, sports, the arts, social sciences, education, politics...? Think of the hobbies you've had, and the ones you'd like to have. And of course take into account your personality. What are your strengths? Are you organised? Are you funny? Are you good at talking and engaging with people? Are you methodical? Are you artistic, or creative in any other way? Are you good with letters, or numbers, or both? Another thing to consider is what type of work would you like to do. Do you prefer to make things or to sell/promote them? Or perhaps you prefer to help others, be that people, animals, the environment, or any worthy cause? How do you see yourself in the future? I'd suggest to give all of the above a fair amount of thought, maybe even talk to friends and family; people that know you and can perhaps see talent or strengths in you that you're yet to fully explore... then research online, attend career advice meetings and open days, and whatever you choose to do, give it a good try! Everyone is different. Some people know exactly what they want to do since they're kids. For others, it takes them years to come across their dream jobs, and for many more of us, it's not even about a dream job but about constantly learning, improving yourself, and feeling useful no matter what you do. I wish you all the best!
