Karen’s Answer

Your question is a little vague, but I’m going to answer from different views. The CNA role can be critical in forming a solid team in taking care of patients. I have worked with CNAs who were the backbone of our office. Doctors were lost when their CNA wasn’t available. So, yes they can be very good as a vital part of the team. Unless, that is your goal in life the CNA is not a job that helps promote you to another position. It is a dead end. Very few organizations have different levels of CNAs, so either see this job as a way to break into healthcare until you can get more education or go into it knowing that is all you want to do.

Karen recommends the following next steps:

Search potential jobs and salaries.
Talk to CNAs and get feedback about their jobs, satisfaction, pros, cons.

Amanda’s Answer

Absolutely CNA's are a good career choice! You will often find this is a stepping stone to becoming an RN. Nurses are the backbone of our health system. It is a career to be proud of and one that offers life skills. Physicians rely on these types of roles for their patient care. I highly suggest if you are interested in becoming a CNA you check with your local community college on programs they offer. Some Home Health Organizations may also offer opportunities to become a CNA as well.
