Hi! My daughter wants to become a YouTuber and we have gotten advice from some actors, cinema professionals and other artists. The most important thing about becoming a YouTuber is the content you would present. Find out what about your ideas and personality is original, intriguing and popular. What age group/interest group will you target? Are your videos going to be about sports, crafts, animals, travel, cooking? Once you narrow that a bit, make sure you work on interesting topics to present. It is important to work with a good video camera and do some editing, as people have pointed out above. But what matters the most is how engaging you actually are. I would suggest taking some public speaking classes, if you have not, perhaps doing some stand up comedy workshops if you enjoy those. Have as many of your friends as you can watch your first videos/presentations. Ask if they find you funny, interesting, and provoking. Take their feedback and get better. Finally, think about how you will advertise your YouTube channel. Will you share it with forums/groups with similar interests in social media, or create an email list etc.

Being a youtuber is like you are your own boss.
You will need some people's guidance though if you want to fly solo on this or you can engage some people for being your cameraman, editor.
I would say work with some people who knows how to edit and how to shoot videos. This will give you a idea on how things goes, Meanwhile while you learn this- also prepare your content: what exactly you want to show on your youtube channel.
Most importantly, You need to be very patient. Youtubers often dont get viewers very soon, It takes time for people to follow and subscribe to your channel which they will do eventually if you will have intersting videos.
So focus on your content, your skills and yes be patient!

My buddy is a failed YouTuber and he says that it all boils down to a fewhings; charm, personality, luck, thick skin, and something people are willing to watch. From what he tells me being a YouTuber is literally having every minute of your life devoted to being a YouTuber when you are starting. You get no sick days, you get no vacation, and you get a lot of hate.

Hi Nevaeh, I think it depends on you I have a friend that works with some youtubers he is the camera man and make some editions but of course when you are starting you will have to do it by yourself or ask a friend to help you. It requires a lot of work, you need to be patient because probably won´t see results of your work until some time. You also have to be centered because remember that internet is dangerous place and you could receive bad reviews or dislikes that sometimes doesn´t even make sense but that´s how it works. Of course you have to be an outgoing person and need to maintain the interest of the people. I would recommend to look out for topics on how to modulate your voice and use your expressions for digital media. I took some of this courses because the majority of the meetings at my work are video presence and they really help.
