Jamie’s Answer

There are many quality veterinary schools across the country. They each have their own admissions requirements, costs, etc. I recommend doing some research to identify the programs that would be a best fit for your interests and academic standing.

Jamie recommends the following next steps:

As a first step, US News & World Reports usually has a thorough list of schools and ranks them according to various criteria. The link to their veterinary school rankings is: https://www.usnews.com/best-graduate-schools/top-health-schools/veterinarian-rankings.
You can use the above link as a starting point to identify schools with veterinary programs and then go to the websites for those specific universities to find out more about their programs, specializations, admissions criteria, costs, etc.

Randy’s Answer

My daughter is also interested in becoming a veterinarian. The schools she identified were University of Kentucky, Mississippi State, and NC State. Of these 3, Kentucky does not have a graduate level vet school but they proclaim to have strong connections with other schools that do. Part of the decision will also be what type of animals you want to work on in your career. You will want to consider a school that is strong in that type of animal and provides opportunities to get experience outside of the classroom.

Michelle’s Answer

My alma mater, NC State University, has a great veterinary program. Historically, NCSU is know for its agriculture department, and they have a renowned veterinary school / clinic right on campus equipped with several farms, and even a creamery with ice cream made from NC State cows! Go Pack!
