Hey Jonathan,

Well i see you are in Connecticut so one of the hardest things for you to deal with will be the weather. I started my construction career in Boston and the winter gets really tough. The field of construction is vast and you could be working inside or outside depending on what sub field you work in. Right now I am working construction in the wireless industry and 1/2 of the work we are doing now is indoors.

Construction can be hard on you physically if you are working in the field a lot, it can also be hard again if you are in an area that has tough winters where layoffs are common. That being said there is room to grow in the construction industry and you can always advance to a management position and be the one overseeing the teams.

Best of luck and i hope this helped

Thank s

Dan

Randy’s Answer

Construction can be physically demanding due to the lifting and physical tasks required. Over time this can take a toll on your body. After a while many workers wear down and risk injury, which is another hard part. Construction workers have a high injury rate due to the weight and size of materials mixed with the machinery used. I know several people that have been seriously injured on job sites. Another challenge with this line of work would be that you are frequently out in the weather. Hot or cold. Rain or shine. This can also lead to inconsistent income as some work is not done in bad weather.

Good luck!
