What kind of internship jobs for transport company

If i finish my college, what kind of jobs there are for transportation? #business

Thank you comment icon Hi, Henry. I don't exactly understand the question. Are you asking what kind of jobs there are, or what kind of internships there are? Also, to help us find someone who can help you, would you please include an example of the type of company you're thinking of? I don't know what "transport company" means - do you mean a company like FedEx that transports commercial goods, or do you mean a company like American Airlines that transports people, or something like the Public Transport system (like the MBTA, MTA, BART, etc.)? Or perhaps you're thinking of something else. You can edit the question by clicking on the "edit" link under your question. Thanks! - CareerVillage Team Jared Chung, Admin

If you're interested in transportation, there are jobs such as:

Operators: these are people who operate the vehicles, e.g., bus driver, train conductor, truck driver, airline pilot

Service staff: these are people who just deal with the customers, e.g., flight attendants, cargo handlers, security agent

Administrative staff: these are people who coordinate logistics, and keep the transportation running smoothly, e.g., air traffic controller, taxi dispatcher

Maintenance staff: these people make sure the transportation equipment runs properly, e.g., mechanics

Management: these are the people who oversee all of the other people, as well as hiring and firing them

You don't need a college degree for all of these jobs in transport, e.g., to be a bus driver or cargo handler, you just need a high school diploma. For some other others, you might just need a 2-year vocational college or community college, e.g., mechanic. But for some of the others, you need to finish college and maybe get a masters degree or finish college and work you way up from one of the other positions, e.g., you start as a air traffic controller, but work your way up into the management positions

If you are interested in more than just actual transporting things, you could look into a career in transportation planning. Cities and counties offer internships in this area where you could work on various transportation projects. For example, evaluating how many people take the bus at a certain time to determine if another bus line needs to be added, etc. Also look at your local public transportation companies (bus, train) that may offer internships.
