Rebecca’s Answer

Hi Noelia,

This is a great question! A lot of us didn't know at an early age what we wanted to do, or even what options there were. I like Jessie's answer a lot, if a class like that is an option, that sounds perfect for you.

Another thing I didn't know about when I was in school is that there are people at your high school and at community colleges that can help you figure these things out. Most high schools have guidance counselors, for instance. Most community colleges have some form of guidance for you in terms of what classes to take and how to be successful while you are there. It might take some digging, but I bet you can find something on your college's website, or call and see if you can make an appointment. I don't know about you, but I am shy about calling when I don't really know what questions to ask. If you call the admissions office, though, they should be able to point you in the right direction. I'd ask questions like, "what resources do you have for students who aren't sure what to study?" or "do you have career counselors on staff that can give me advice?"

Rebecca recommends the following next steps:

Call the community college admissions office
Ask them who you can talk to for help deciding what to study
Make an appointment
