HOW OFTEN DO PHOTOGRAPHERS GET JOBS?

Many photographers are self-employed. Photographers who own and operate their own business have additional responsibilities. They must advertise, schedule appointments, set up and adjust equipment, purchase supplies, keep records, bill customers, pay bills, and—if they have employees—hire, train, and direct their workers.

You have to decide what is your field of choice.

Wedding photographers : they work on contract basis

Product phorographers : can work with company payroll or freelance

Fashion photographers : fulltime company payroll or freelance.

I suggest you choose your field of choice and then start with a company to gain experience with photography, later you can choose to become freelancer
