What kinds of jobs are there in the airline industry?
I would like to understand the different jobs in the airline industry, as it's one that interests me. I'm sure there are a bunch of jobs that I'm just unaware of or unfamiliar with, so I'd love to hear about what you do in the airline industry to get a better understanding of some possible options for myself! #aviation #airline-industry

We have every kind of job opportunity you can imagine. Many people don't know that we actually have sales people calling on corporations. If you work in the head offices ( Cathay Head USA office is located in SFO,) you can do many different kinds of jobs. We need good computer and math specialists. We can train you in many of the jobs that we have. You can also work at the airport. Go to our website and look up careers.

Aviation encompasses a few different industries in one. Commercial, corporate, and aerospace. Each sector is very different from each other. IE. I am a corporate flight attendant which means i am trained and work on private planes only- my job is very different from a commercial flight attendants job. Same goes for pilots and ground personnel. Some people gravitate towards work in commercial aviation while others ( like myself ) prefer the corporate sector.

Hello Marcus,
I think your question is more about the Aviation industry. Usually when I hear about the Airline Industry, its focused on the airlines, like American Airlines, United, Delta, etc, etc, otherwise referred to as commercial air carriers. Aviation is usually divided in the military, commercial (airlines), general aviation and manufacturing. Each of these branches have various differences, but all fall under aviation. In aviation, there are all sorts of careers, some of which have nothing to do with aircraft. One might say, "Sky is the limit".
I am an aircraft mechanic and I enjoy working with my hands and analyzing technical difficulties. I like working on private/corporate jets and helicopters. There is a lot of responsibility in being a mechanic. There is not much room for errors, and minor mistakes could turn deadly and affect the lives of others. When I release an aircraft from maintenance, it has to be 100% airworthy and ready for flight. The work conditions vary by company and work scope. Remember that an aircraft is a work tool and it has a purpose. Most people work and travel during day time, 9 to 5, so a lot of maintenance may have to occur at night, on weekends, holidays or whenever the airplane is not being used. Sometimes you may need to work outside in bad weather. I take great pride into what I do and always do it the right way the first time.
I love my job, and I can't think of anything else I would rather do, it is very rewarding for me. If you are mechanically inclined, and you like solving problems and working with machinery, than this may be a job for you.
I would advise you to find your strengths and what interests you, and then find a job that suits you. If you love what you do, life will be fun and rewarding.
Good luck with your search, hope this helped.
