What does a job working in sales for an airline entail?
I know these jobs exist, I'm just not sure what exactly working in sales for an airline entails - What are you selling? Who are you selling to? I always just go to an airline's website to purchase my flights, I never actually speak with anyone in the process! Can you describe what your typical day to day looks like as a sales person? #airline-industry #sales

Hi Danny,
Airline ticket sales do have several channels. Like you mentioned some travelers call the airline direct or online to purchase tickets; we have reservations and ticketing agents managing this channel. In addition to direct passenger sales, airlines also caters to travel agency sales, corporate sales, online agency sales, etc. For each of these channel, airline sales staff deal with different challenges. Agency and corporate sales for example would include account management, sales calls, presentations, etc. If you love meeting people and travelling, this is a rewarding career. Good luck!

I am not too familiar with airlines however I am sure it is very similiar to all sales. You help passengers make reservations and try and offer them an upsale for their seat, like first class, business class or priority seating.

Hi,
Good question, airlines sales or as it is sometimes called, Reservation Agent, is an on the phone sales job where you usually work in a call center taking calls from customers, travel agents, companies, etc. and help them book their flights, make travel plans, etc. If you work for an airline, you will usually get some type of travel discount or free flights...but, mostly it is a call center, desk or cubicle type of job.
good luck...
