What is the job description of a Public Relations person working for an airline?
I'm really interested in public relations, so i'm wondering what a job in PR would be like working for an airline. Do you love what you do? Why did you choose to do PR in this industry over others? Hi, So I've never worked in PR myself, but know several people that have. I think the newest trends in PR are really focused on social media. As you have probably noticed this is the new media and with that being said there are many entry level positions with airlines and other firms that start in social media. Also the other trend in PR is story telling. This is something where I believe there is a growing level of courses and formal education. Also having this kind of background will allow you to pivot into other areas.

Hi, I currently work on the corporate communications team for an airline. There are so many different roles you could take on within the department. As Jonathan mentioned, you could focus on social media, we also have people who do PR in a more traditional role meaning they think of good news stories to pitch to media and answer any questions media may have about topics that have come up in the news. We also have an internal team, their main focus is the employees and how we communicate with them. I will say it is challenging as you never know what you may have to deal with. We constantly monitor our flights and any issues with them and any social media posts from customers and try to be as proactive as possible when it comes to preparing for any issues we foresee.
