Sapham’s Answer

The welding profession is vast and choosing the specific type of welding profession will help to identify and understand the considerable forms of risks and obstacles. The types of welding that are prominent in the workforce would include hand-welding, flame-cutting, hand-soldering, or brazing equipment weld or join metal components. The skill set needed to perform the welding job function and job requirements will vary as well but the common traits among the different job types are contingent on the personal competency of an individual.

An individual would need to display social competency in areas of attention to detail, dependability, communication, integrity, cooperation, and ethics. The following institutes can provide more depth regarding the vocational type of education, societal memberships, and occupational outlook in the area of welding.

Hope this helps.

Serah’s Answer

Welding is a valuable skill and can be enjoyable. One challenge is being persistent and patient enough to improve over time so that you can lay a clean, even bead of weld. Another challenge is that the work environment is high-risk and noisy. Finally, experienced welders often report some loss of vision due to staring at the spark for hours, even with eye protection.

Serah recommends the following next steps:

Ask your friends and family if they know anyone currently working as a welder. See if you can talk with that person for a half-hour about their experience.
Find out more about the work www.jobs4welding.com/weldwise/pros-and-cons-of-being-a-welder/.
Make a list of apprenticeship programs in your area.
