Never judge a book by it’s cover, or a hospital by its name. I have trained and worked in multiple Christian based hospital systems on the west coast. By the year 2000, many hospital systems or networks were bought by large conglomerates. Making the name on the hospital, just a name. In general, all hospital core processes are based on similar principles. There are still a some privately owned hospitals and clinics. If you are looking for an employer who aligns best with your mission, investigate each individual institution. It is more advisable to assess the company’s culture, reach out to employees. Talk to nursing or medical students who train in the institution. Look online for a company's employee feedback and ratings. Consider the speciality, research, and education goals of an institution. This can provide you information as to the type of employees they employ, and procedures performed. In my 25-year career, I have found a high staff retention/ low staff turnover rate to be the best indicator of a quality employer. Quality effective healthcare is all about teamwork. Working long term with a highly qualified and trusted team, can elevate you personal, professional, and patient care game to reach new heights.
