Heather’s Answer

Hi Bianca,

Here is a great resource for learning about becoming an EMT. It talks about what you can do while you are in high school and more about how to become one as well as what to expect about what the job is really like. https://bigfuture.collegeboard.org/careers/health-technology-emergency-medical-technicians-paramedics

Good luck!

Bianca, no you do not. You just have to be a basic EMT. I have seen a lot of paramedics get their bachelors degree, while they were working as paramedics. And eventually became physicians. I have listened to a lot of medical students, wishing that they were paramedics. EMS, can be very inspiring, to advance in the medical field. Some people, decide to become RN/EMT-P. And with that, you can become a flight nurse. Just Google, Basic EMT, Redwood City, CA. Once you complete that, you are halfway home. My EMT class, was at a medical school. Most of the instructors were professors of that school. I was very fortunate. I hadn’t even graduated high school at the time. All I had to be, was eighteen at the time of my state exam. Don’t be discouraged by your age. Start reading EMT and Paramedic books, before you even go to school. I read the Paramedic book, before I even started Basic EMT. And it helped tremendously.
