John’s Answer

No. In fact, you should consider using your GI Bill to go to school while you're in the Service or afterwards. That being said, you may also want to consider going to college and joining ROTC either on scholarship or not. Talk to a recruiter as he/she will provide further guidance.

Robin’s Answer

No. The military will send you to tech school and then you will have On-the-Job training. If you have some college credits before enlisting, they may benefit you by enlisting at a higher rank but that is no guarantee. However, when permitted, go to school as much as possible during your enlistment because this will give you a head start on your degree if you choose to separate after your enlistment. I used Tuition Assistance when I was in the AF and got my Bachelor's and Master's degrees. I'm retired and still have by GI Bill benefits so if I want to go back to school for something else, I can.
