Kelly’s Answer
I work in public accounting specializing in corporate tax. A typical day usually starts around 9am and on average goes on until 6pm (could be later if it is peak tax season). My work involves communicating with my peers and clients throughout the day via calls and team meetings. I get my work done utilizing multiple technology resources; such as, tax return software, Excel, Alteryx and video chat for calls. My work encompasses reviewing tax returns, advising my clients on tax matters and proposing work to clients.

I work in Human Resources -- so everyday is different. The common thread across any day is building relationships with people, connecting with prospective employees and current employees, and solving people problems. You should strive for a job that you're motivated to go to daily -- that excites you and fits into your personal purpose. My days don't always start and end the same- but I do feel like I make a difference to the people and the business I work for.

Start the day by checking emails and answering questions, deciding whether items are urgent or not. Checking my calendar for meetings and planning my day around those. Troubleshooting issues, helping others complete tasks, creating reports to share with the team and leadership. Communicating with peers and teams to share best practices. and Coffee!(A lot)
