Rachel’s Answer
Hi Danika,
Would you mind elaborating on what type of doctor? The difference between how a surgeon practices versus an internal medicine doctor is substantial. All doctors treat medical illnesses, but they do so in different ways for different specialties.

Estelle’s Answer
Some doctors see patients in their office and may take care of them for many years. Some doctors work in hospitals and only see patients there. Some doctors perform surgery, and others do not. Like Rachel said, we all take care of patients but in lots of different ways.

-Make diagnoses
-Admit patients to the hospital if the patient condition warrants
-Prescribe treatment which can include medications or invasive procedures. The doctor can perform the invasive procedure or refer the patient to another physician for the procedure
