Omar,
"customer service" is a catch-all job title used to describe many different sorts of jobs. Therefore, the pay ranges from minimum wage to pretty decent. Let me give you some examples of positions that might be called "customer service"
- working at a car wash
- retail clerk/cashier/fast food
- call center - lots of variety here - some pay very low, some are awesome!
a. internet/cell phone providers
b. insurance policy service - health, car, homeowners, etc.
4 Customer service for a BIG company, handling orders from other companies. As an example, a company that manufactures heavy equipment has sold a backhoe to another company. They need a new attachment, replacement hose, etc. Or a company that manufactures and sells medical equipment - robotic surgery arms, mri's etc.
As you can see, customer service is everywhere! It is a great skill to acquire, however you can get it - even if waiting tables, etc. You can use it other places. The key to providing excellent customer service is to treat others the way you would want your grandmother to be treated, don't take it personally when customers are rude and obnoxious, and learn to resolve complaints in a manner that will make the customer want to come back (or at least not badmouth the company on social media).
Hope this helps!
