Le Chern's breakdown was very accurate. Most people are between 28 and 34 when they complete the entire process of becoming a specialized physician. Also, it is becoming more common for students to take a gap year or two between their undergraduate studies and medical school, so this also adds on to the time it takes.

3-6 years of residency with optional 1-3 years of fellowship.

I have a friends who are doctors or in training and here is what I know. At minimum, its a long training requirement
- 4 years to get a bachelors degree
- 4 years medical school
- 3-7 years in residency depending on specialty
It takes even longer if you choose to specialize in surgery.
I would go ahead and speak to pre-med counselors in colleges, who could best advise you on this.
