Jason’s Answer

There will be a demand for career counselors in different forms. You should think about what population you want to work with:
High school or college students?
Developmentally disabled adults?
Second career seeking adults?
Providing vocational guidance for prisoners on work release?

Those are general areas that one can find a specific job. As far as pay, check out the US department of labor and statistics for specific information as averages will not help you. I see you are in Cali, I am in jersey- we both have very high cost of living so that needs to be factored. When doing a search if you find that 50k is the avg annual salary you need to remember there are more states with lower cost of living which drive that average down. 50K in cali and jersey is very different than 50k in rural Mississippi.

I would not expect to be a very wealthy person if this is the area you are seeking. That being said, there are almost always lucrative methods of making more from a career path. You could attempt to consult as a head hunter for C-level(CEO, CFO) hires for large corporations.
