On the first part of the question, there's some good info here:

I'll re-iterate my position from there: as much math as possible, also a good course in writing composition. If your school offers a good intro programming course it could be useful, otherwise don't sweat it.

For the second part of the question, it's a pretty wide variety, but it may vary depending on where you're located. If you are able to come to the US, there's an awful lot of programming & software engineering jobs out there. If you're specifically looking at more niche areas of computer engineering (e.g. architecture, chip design), then it can get a bit more difficult to find a job (I couldn't; wasn't qualified / good enough). But the larger programming & software industry is immense, and full of employment opportunities. Web development, game programming, writing mobile apps, moving data around, etc. You can go look around on Glassdoor, indeed, monster, or similar websites to find tons of job postings for programmers.

I don't know enough about the job market in Trinidad to be able to comment there though, sorry.

Thank you comment icon thank you very much Davina

Try to take as many math classes as you can, electrical physics, and one of the student here took a class in printed circuit boards which you should take if it is available in your school. Moreover, take course in programming if available. I learnt C++ in at school. You also can learn programming languages on your own time. My brother is a computer science graduate and he codes in ten languages if not more! The more you learn and experience now the easier things would be in the future for you.

Math is usually a required general subject. I not saying you have to be great at it because I'm not at all!! Take as much high school math as you can including calculus.
