Emanuel’s Answer

HVAC is one of those jobs where you can go to school and learn everything you can. To become really great you have to get hands-on experience. At any job, all you have to do it perform to the best of your abilities and you will learn best practices along the way. Find a family-owned company to work for and then transition onto a bigger company and you will be extremely successful.

Ryan’s Answer

I started as a Residential HVAC Tech in the beginning. I went to trade school right out of the Marine Corps. And school was the easy part. At the time I worked in Manhattan and summer we were burning up on a roof and winter we were freezing. The best advice I can give you is always be available to work. Even if it’s 36 hours straight, there will be days like that. Pay attention to your companies poster boards and sign up for any training they offer. Danfoss is a great training platform. You can purchase classes online and then you will be moving up the ladder. Certain businesses have facilities management and require certain certification for their equipment. It took me 4 years of hard work to obtain a position as a field service manager. Now I am Director of Operations for a large plumbing and air conditioning company. Where my contacts and respect from my peers enables me to build and fix mechanical companies. Below is the link for Danfoss.
