Neha’s Answer

I went to a natural medicine school for chiropractors, naturopathic doctors, and other alternative medicine practitioners. I completed the naturopathic medicine program, but had many core classes alongside students in the chiropractic program. All students had completed a 4 year bachelors degree, some had worked for some time in a different profession and were switching careers. For my specific school, there was no additional entrance exam required. The school I went to was National University of Health Sciences (they have a campus in Florida too!). See their admission requirements here: https://www.nuhs.edu/admissions/chiropractic-medicine/applying/prerequisites/

In addition to this, volunteering at a chiropractic office and/or shadowing a chiropractor will help you get a feel for the day-to-day responsibilities of the career (if you're not 100% set on this career path yet). I would also recommend talking to other chiropractors about job prospects.

Neha recommends the following next steps:

Research some accredited schools that offer D.C. degrees
For each school, look up their admissions requirements to see the specific courses/hours they require and if an entrance exam is needed.

Brian’s Answer

Hi Kauan! It's great that you are thinking about a career in a field where you are working in service to others - many people will tell you that's a great way to feel fulfilled in life.

For your specific question on what it takes to become a chiropractor, the US News and World Report says "Chiropractors are required to have at least three years of undergraduate education – or 90 hours of undergraduate credit – before they can apply to an accredited Doctor of Chiropractic (D.C.) program. However, most chiropractors complete a four-year bachelor's degree before applying to D.C. programs"

Brian recommends the following next steps:
