Suzanne’s Answer

Hi Destiny,

Your question has been waiting for an answer since last July! I'm so sorry!

Taking care of people in need has always been the most satisfying aspect of working as a registered nurse. But let me add that learning new science and applying it clinically is extremely exciting and rewarding. I worked in oncology clinical trials for over 30 years. I have too many stories to start here!!

What made my job extremely burdensome was the health insurance industry. Insurance carriers do not have the patients in mind, they have the shareholders in mind. Their job is to make money. I have spent hours on the phone attempting to get medicines and procedures approved for very sick patients and I was not always successful.

I hope this answer is helpful. Keep asking questions!

Sue

Being a physician can be stressful, especially when the patients have an incurable illness. After years of education and training the feeling of helplessness can be devastating.
Night shifts are also painful.

MOST
Radiology is an exciting and dynamic field. For me personally, the procedures are the most exciting. For example, we recently introduced Y-90 radioembolization at our hospital. This provides a new opportunity to treat liver cancers and prolong lives.

Regem’s Answer

I love being able to help my patients not just be better physically but also mentally as well. There is so much satisfaction from seeing a first time mom really feel confident as a parent.
