For me, the most difficult was losing a young patient no matter what you or the provider did to help them. You have to learn that sometimes no matter what, you are going to lose favorite patients.
The most difficult day for me was finding out we lost a really close patient in the morning and having to work all day with things going wrong for other patients as well, reactions to medication, not getting medication that is needed because insurance doesn't want to pay and having to admit another patient for a sudden heart issue.
Learn to be able to accept the bad with the good
Have a release outside of work
Have someone to talk to about bad days
Volunteer for good causes

As a surgeon, I see medical assistants often. Being a medical assistant can be a very fulfilling career. Your day will involve getting rooms prepared for the physician, taking labs, and helping with paperwork. The most difficult thing I can imagine would be interacting with a very sick patient or a very hostile patient. This doesn't happen often however. I wish you the best if you decide to become an MA.
