Hey Anthony! While I'm just a Recruiter, I have hired almost 400 manufacturing professionals for my company - Catalent Pharma Solutions. We asked this question to a manufacturing professional panel at our Harmans/BWI site in Maryland that was made up of entry-level, senior and executive leadership and their consensus was that they Manufacture Miracles everyday. Our Manufacturing professionals are on the horizon of manufacturing two major Covid-19 vaccines! You might have seen us in the news – we’ve partnered with Moderna and we’re excited to welcome the early results of a Covid-19 vaccine candidate which shows a vaccine efficacy of 94.5%!!! Such a rewarding career when your end user is a patient and you can help save their lives!

I enjoyed not only being able to earn a substantial amount of money, as I was in the composites Industry, (Aerospace). But also the opportunity to gain a substantial amount of new knowledge and skills! I enjoyed learning all the different aspects of the manufacturing industry, from checking the quality of the raw materials, being received into the factory, through the different stages of the manufacturing process, to checking the quality of the finished products, being shipped to the customer. I felt a sense of pride and satisfaction, of being able to say, "Yes", I helped to make that product! Also, the company I worked for had a very diverse customer base, so we made everything, from formula 1 race cars to spacecraft parts!

This gives you an opportunity to understand the process of making a product or bringing a product to live from input to output.
Finally the joy, you get to see your finished work on the shelf when you walk into the mall or supermarket. And you get paid for your efforts.
Thanks

Hi Anthony,
I am a supervisor for production technicians, so I can hopefully give you what some of my employees like about their jobs.
I work for a pharmaceutical company, so the products we make are meaningful. Everyday, we have a focus on what we are doing for our patients, I would recommend finding a company that makes a product you care about!
Additionally, many of my employees are mechanically inclined. They like to understand how things work and like to be able to use equipment to see things manufactured. I like to think about the fact that whatever manufacturing company you are working for, the whole business relies on their production technicians to "make the money."
Specifically in my industry, every day is different and I get to trouble shoot new problems constantly.
Good luck!

I enjoy being in manufacturing because there are many aspects of self-development you can branch out in. For example, when you are producing a product, to make it perfect you ask a lot of questions such as how is it built? Why do we have this procedure? If I change a procedure or decides not to do this step, what will happen to the product? You have to think about it from a safety point of view too, such as am I doing this in a safe way to protect myself from getting hurt? Am I making it in such a way so my user/consumers will not get hurt? Another reason I like manufacturing is that you can start out with little to no experience and work your way up. It's a great start to building your career.
