From high school to the CRNA license is a lengthy process marked by intermediate steps that all require excellence, perseverance, dedication and some sacrifice. Make it easy on yourself and do it while you are young and can afford the time and dedication it requires. Once you are married and become a parent and are responsible for others, the process is more difficult because there is little time for family responsibilities. The graduate program in nurse anesthesia is 50 to 60 hours of clinical and study commitment. You will not be able to earn income to support yourself and a family during this 3 year time period. My best advice is to save money before you start and keep your financial and family obligations minimal to ensure success.

As a physician, I work with CRNA all the time. From what I understand, they go through both CRNA school and Nursing school, which is a pretty big time and financial commitment. However, the CRNAs I see are usually very happy with their work.
