Emily’s Answer

To piggyback off Kim's answer - if you're looking for a specific job, you should look at the job posting and see what requirements they're looking for. Think of your prior work/school experience and see if you can think of items that align with the posting. If needed, edit your resume to reflect this, and ensure to also edit your cover letter to fit your experience and the posting better. Practice common interview questions, and when you practice, see if you can incorporate some of the experiences you have found that fit with the posting in your answer. Basically, see if you can highlight your strengths as much as possible as you're applying. Do your research on the specific company as well! Look at their values, reviews, and their history to see if this company stands for things you believe in. This can turn into a good conversation starter in interviews.

Let me know if this helps or if you have any follow-up questions!
Thank you comment icon Hi Emily: Thank you for sharing the tips; especially doing research on the company prior to interviewing. Sheila Jordan

Subathra’s Answer

I am a Technical Writer. I have pursued Computer Science degrees. Also, I have completed diplomas in Technical Writing and Technical Illustrating.

Though my degrees added value to my profile, through the diplomas I have learned a lot and worked on a few real-time projects, which helped me when I got into the corporate world. Besides, I want to finish my answer with this thought: "nothing you learn will be wasted".
