Some people, such as your parents, urge you to aim for higher education (even art in your case) after graduation from high school. Well, you SHOULDN'T. Colleges and universities only give you a greater sense of reality more than guaranteeing you a degree.
Ironically, this doesn't mean you should give up your dream job as an artist. You can invest some of your free times on building any kind of art portfolio, then showcase it to the public in your own personal website. Above all, make sure you connect with professional artists and invite them to look at your works of art. You might have a random chance of getting hired by any of them.

My advice is research the art schools you feel would best suit your needs, look at the surrounding areas, dorms, school/work life and then narrow it down to 3 schools and then narrow it down to 2 schools. Make a portfolio of your best pieces, also try going outside your comfort zone with different types of art so you will be a versatile artist kinda like tattoo artists so are one dimensional, some are known for a certain style and some are known for being able to do it all.
