What is the typical day of work as a Nurse Midwife and are there any skills that make it easier?

I'm looking into starting my career path geared towards becoming a Nurse Midwife, and was hoping for some advice from someone in the field or similarly. Thank you for your time in advance.

Estelle’s Answer

As an obstetrician and gynecologist, I spent many years working with nurse-midwives. The job can be very fulfilling, and helping with delivery can be very exciting. You need to be a hard worker who can stay focused and ready to work over long shifts. You need to be able to communicate with your patients and the physician you’re working under. And you need to be able to work well under pressure when your patient might not be doing well.

Best of luck.
