The benefits really depend on what company you are working for or if you are working clinical or retail. Usually, clinical technicians get paid a little more due to them having to make IV's. The benefits can be health, dental, and vision insurance. You are also able to take some paid time off if you are full time. You also get maternity leave and if there are deaths in the family, they can help with finances that way. Different jobs and different levels have different benefits. Hope this helps.

Perry’s Answer

Benefits for pharmacy technicians can vary depending on the organization you work for and the hours that you work. Typically, full time pharmacy technicians (40hrs/wk) can enjoy such benefits such as medical/ dental/ life insurance and investment options (401k for example). Pharmacy technicians who work less than 40hrs/wk may still enjoy such benefits, however, with some exceptions. Its always best to speak with the organization regarding your benefits before employment.

As a side note, more benefits working as a pharmacy technician can include generous paid overtime, flexible schedules, tuition assistance for continuing education, or even growth opportunities such as becoming a supervisor or lead pharmacy technician. Rule of thumb, always check on the growth opportunities.

Roy’s Answer

The benefits offered for a pharmacy technician depend on the company you are working for. I worked as a pharmacy tech for a grocery store and the benefits at the time were health, dental and vision that I paid for and a little paid time off. This was in the 90s and things have changed for the industry. There are available jobs with different levels of pay based on the different skills needed. In a hospital there are multiple levels of pharmacy technicians. I would suggest speaking to pharmacies in grocery stores and hospitals to learn more. You will need to know if licensing is required or if a certification is accepted. Good luck!
