I believe that most vocational community colleges offer an Auto Mechanics degree. Those usually take 2 years to complete and at the end you would obtain your A.A.A.S degree. These are very good all-day programs where you will usually have "Theory" classroom time in the morning and "Hands-on" in the afternoon. These type of programs give you a very good mix of knowledge, usually you can get a job at a local shop while you go to school. This is only true if you are persistent and if you do a good job at school, since you can get a recommendation from your professors. If this happens, you are usually set with a job after you are done with the program. I hope this helps.

You have a couple of routes you can take.
There are some colleges that have vocational programs that take 2 years to complete.
The other option is to go to an automotive trade school like Lincoln Tech or UTI. I believe their programs are for 12 months and they may assist with job placement after graduation.
