Do you have access to a computer and the Internet?

If so, go for it! There are a dizzying variety of tutorials available online. Your favorite search engine will find them. Try a search like "programming ~tutorial" ... it means find things that combine the word "programming" with the word "tutorial" or many other words meaning the same thing.

You can download free-to-use editions of some excellent programmer tools like Notepad++, Microsoft Visual Studio, Eclipse, XCODE, and similar.

To set up your own website at no cost, visit http://wordpress.com/

To get started learning to program, try looking at https://www.codecademy.com/ . It's a high-quality web site for beginners, There are many other similar web sites.

If you don't have access to a computer or the internet, you should start by getting access. Depending on your situation, that may or may not be difficult. Many universities allow graduates to use their library resources upon request.

Harsh,

If you want to do freelance web building/ graphic design type work you will want to familiarize yourself with web building programs such as: Dreamweaver and Muse as well as any of the supporting programs such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. If you want to utilize some motion graphics then I would recommend a proficiency in Flash.

As for learning programing, code, etc. there are many free ways to learn online at your own pace. I can recommend Khan Academy: https://www.khanacademy.org/ You don't have to sign up to watch the learning videos (it is free to sign up/ create an account). You can learn JavaScript, html, css, etc, etc.

You will see many freelance jobs for UX (User Experience Designer) / UI (User Interface Designer) capabilities. If you want to go that route you will want proficiency with Sketch, Fireworks, and InVision (in addition to Photoshop and Illustrator). For more on what UX/UI is and does here is a website explaining: http://www.fastcodesign.com/3032719/ui-ux-who-does-what-a-designers-guide-to-the-tech-industry

There are many freelancers can do all of the above so it really depends on what you want to do.

I have a BA too. If you already have some skills, you can get some experience in non-profit organizations. Find something you believe in and are passionate about, and volunteer your services. This will help you build a resume of work product. If you don't yet have skills, then you need to clock some library time - there's a wide array of online tutorials and training that can help build out what you are looking to do!
