Helping others is always commendable. There are many ways you can help others, it all depends on how you approach it. I have been in sales all my life and I consider what I do as helping others. I help business customers solve business problems. By showing compassion, listening and understanding the customer see you as part of their team. I originally started college with a plan to become a teacher because I wanted to help others. Keep your options open and over the next couple years trying working in specific areas that are of interest to you. That will help you determine if they are right for you.

How exciting! If your high school provides options for different intro level business courses, accounting courses, or advanced classes in the science classes, i would take advantage of these options so that you can see what interests you the most! It's important to see which subjects you enjoy the most because you're degree with be several years of these topics. In your senior year, try all sorts of classes that you can like accounting, computer science, and see what you like and what you don't like!

Hi Cynthia! There are many professions that are service oriented. Teachers, Social Workers, Grant Writers, Nurses, Public Service, Counselors, and Charity Work to name a few. You would need to decide whether you want to work on the clinical side, for a non-profit, behind a desk or in a classroom should you decide to go the route of some of those mentioned above. You may want to job shadow or volunteer to see if one of these is right for you. Once you find something that makes you happy then look for an educational institution that will help you get there. Good Luck! Hope this helps!
