Good morning Ralston L. Thanks for your question. The basic requirements for the automotive job is to be able to arrive early each working Monday to Friday at the garage workshop by 7.30 a.m. When the door opens you go to the changing room and put your day clothes in your locker and put on your overalls and work boots. Sort out your tool box and have your clock card ready to clock in at the time machine to show the business owner you are very keen to become a qualified Mechanical Engineer. You need to be 100% enthusiastic and willing to follow instructions as you learn the skills working with a fully qualified Mechanical Engineer. Normally you get the opportunity to go to Technical College one day per week to learn the theory and practice of mechanical engineering. Make sure you get a job as an apprentice Mechanical Engineer with a proper Government 4 year Apprenticeship Indenture Agreement also signed by both your parents and you. Good Luck in your chosen career path. Frank Oldfield TESOL Teacher. Thursday, 2nd April 2020. 09:45 a.m. Eastern European Summer Time. Finland EU.

Hi Ralston L,
Best to start with some high school mechanics followed by a two year college certificate if you can get it.
Often you can get employment in the business at a lube shop, dealership, or independent repair facility to start and work your way up.
During that time you can study and work on your ASE/NATEF certifications that qualify you to work in most any shop.
Most car manufacturers offer apprenticeships if you work for their dealers. Together with on the job training you will become a well rounded automotive technician. In case you want to go further you could take up Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering. Like anything else in life if you want it you can get it.
