Victor, good morning! I see you are in El Paso. I served many years at Ft. Bliss and can tell you the great thing about the military is they will teach you everything you need to know about the equipment. One thing to remember is all military equipment, including vehicles run on Diesel or JP-8. If you are interested in becoming a mechanic in the military make sure you study prior to taking the ASVAB as your scores depend upon what military occupational specialties you qualify for. I would first go speak with a recruiter and take the practice ASVAB.

Hi Victor, I have a very close friend of mine who was in the US Air Force stationed in Las Vegas as a special vehicle mechanic. He did two tours in Qatar and Kuwait. As its already been mentioned, the military will teach you everything you need to know with regard to the profession that you choose/qualify for, so the first step is your testing scores. I high recommend you study up and take a few practice tests so that you are setting yourself up to success. If being a mechanic is what you are passionate about, then you can definitely make it happen. You just need to take your time, speak to recruiters, find people who have or are currently serving in the military and absorb as much information as possible. Wish you all the best.
