How many years of college does it take to become a Realtor?

My name is Yamelyn I'm 17 years old I'm currently attending Job Corps in El Paso, Texas and will soon be attending an Office Administration class. I took a business class at the last school I was attending and learned much useful information but I would like to know what kind of classes and how many years of college I would need to attend to become a successful realtor. #business

Molly’s Answer

Depends on where you want to work...

If you want to work for a big firm, then they may want you to have a 2 or 4 year degree.

Yamelyn,

Depending on the State, the requirements for a licensed Realtor are quite different. I am pretty sure most do not require a college degree. However, the more of a business background or real estate/mortgage background you have, you are better prepared to answer your client's or customer's questions and needs. Real Estate is a very exciting career and you can do quite well. It does involve a lot of interpersonal skills and in most cases the successful sales will take 1 to 3 months to complete. Good Luck!
